A Few Words on Mental Health…

Last Wednesday was Mental Health Awareness day and I wanted to do a post talking about what mental health means to me and some other things I have on my mind about the topic. Instead of doing a really long post about it, I decided to do a list of the top ten things I consider important or think about this topic.

As you know If you have read my posts before I suffer from my anxiety and have done for many years. Some of my closest friends and family have also struggled with some sort of mental illness at a point in their life. For all of that reasons I have become quite passionate about the topic, meaning I like to be informed and spread the necessity of talking about it as the natural thing it is.
Last Wednesday was really eye opening to me as it showed me how more and more people are concerned about the idea of mental health and also by seeing how people are no longer ashamed of speaking out and telling how they are feeling or what they are suffering with.

1.Mental illness can be really cruel so we should consider them as important (or even more) as physical ones.

2.The society need to be more opened about mental health, break the stigma and get informed about it.

3.Always look after your health, both physical and mental.

4.Ask for help. No matter who you talk with, but talking about how you feel and asking for help always helps.

5.If you know someone might be suffering, ask them how they are feeling and help them as much as you can.

6.Take some time every week to relax and spend time with yourself.

7.Therapy does help and we shouldn't be ashamed of it.

8.A healthy and balanced lifestyle can improve your mental health.

9.Having fears is okay but we shouldn't let them control our life (something I'm still working on).

10.Your mental illness does not define who you are.

That's all for today’s post. And remember, your mental health is as important as your physical health.
