How I Beat the January Blues
1/25/2019
A new year has
just begun and yet a whole month has already passed by. Every year around this
time of the month I start feeling the same: time goes by so quickly, I'm not
doing things right in life, etc. Little did I knew that it was all due to the
January Blues and that I'm not the only one feeling this way. Today I'm going
to give you my tips to stay in track during January and avoid the January
Blues.
Organize.
Organization
is key in order to feel slightly better. There's nothing worse than having a
bunch of things to do in the last minute if you are already feeling down, it
will just make you feel worse. For that reason, organization has become my best
friend. Not only does it help by making me feel less stressed but also it gives
me more free time. If you get things done in an organized way, you will be
using your time more efficiently and you will have more hours to do things you
love or simply to relax. My favourite "tools" to organize are an
agenda and a monthly planner that helps me keep things on track each month.
Self-care.
Wither it is a
15-minute face mask o an hour-long yoga session, self-care is really important
to make you feel good. This year I am joining a gym, I have realized working
out makes me feel much better and I also feel like it is the perfect thing to
do after a long day of university work to help me disconnect and de-stress. If
you don't like working out, you can try dancing as a fun little sport to
practice (just play some music in your room and have some fun). Face masks and
pamper routines are also great for making your soul and body feel much better.
Shut up and
dance.
You don't have
to take this statement literally (although you are free to do it if you feel
like it). By this I mean that we should stop complaining and make excuses.
Don't complain about not seeing your friends in month, rather send them a text
and go for a coffee. Instead of over thinking about things, keep yourself busy
and doing things you love. I guarantee you'll feel much better.
I think we
should also try and celebrate the little things more. We are so focused on out
big goals that we often forget about the little (and sometimes most special)
things in life.
Experience something
new.
I am the least
risky person in the world and I am scared of many things. However, I think
there's nothing better than trying out new things and experiencing new
sensations. You can do anything you like, nut make sure it makes you feel great
and you have fun. From learning a new language to going wild at a karaoke in a friend’s
night out, it doesn't really matter! Making things that get you out of you comfort
zone can be the most satisfying thigs in life.
These are my
tips for staying in track this January and avoiding the January Blues… What are
yours? Let me know in the comments…
