Skincare for Healthy Summer Skin

As much as I love summer (even though the heat wave is killing me right now), my skin suffers a lot in the summer time. The sun, the sweat and many other factors can really affect your skin and make it look dull. The summertime can also make your skin more acne prone. I have found a few tips over the year that help maintain my skin health even in the hottest of summers.

CLEANSE
Using the right cleanser for your skin day and night is essential to keep your skin healthy. It is really important to cleanse your skin in the morning to eliminate any seat from the previous night that may clog your pores and at night time to remove any excess sunscreen, makeup or pollution. As you know, my favourite face cleanser is the Apivita Cleansing Foam for Face and Eyes; it is really gentle on my skin and makes it feel really clean.

PROTECT
Our society is becoming more and more concerned about the sun damage on the skin and I love haring that. However, we tend to think a bit of SPF in our makeup is enough to really protect our skin and this is not true. Using a good SPF on your face is essential to keep it healthy and glowing during the summer. For day to day I like to use the SPF 30 from the Body Shop; however, if I'm going to the beach or the pool I'd apply the SPF 50 from Garnier.

EXFOLIATE
I have really dry skin and it becomes even dryer in the summer (I think air cons and temperature changes have a lot to do) which means I need to exfoliate. This is also a great way of keeping your skin glowing and maintain a good tan if your face happens to tan naturally. Of course, it would make your tan fade faster but it would give you more even looking tan. I love using the Origins Original Skin Face Mask as it cleanses and exfoliates my skin all at once.

FACE MASKS
As I said before the sweat can really clog your pores and so giving your skin a deep cleanse once or twice a week can make a huge difference. A few weeks back my skin was looking quite congested but a few face mask sessions and it is looking great again. To really deep cleanse my pores I love using the Apivita Green Clay Face Mask. If you have dry skin you'd need to apply moisturizer after using it but it leaves your skin feeling awesome.

HYDRATE
We tend to think our skin doesn't need as much hydration in the summer but the truth is our skin can become quite dehydrated. For that reason, using the right moisturizer for your skin (both day and night) is really important. My favourite moisturizer at the moment is the Clinique Moisture Surge Gel Moisturizer; it is really hydrating but still quite fresh. For a deep hydration I like using the Origins Drink Up Intensive Face Mask.
