Red Lipsticks | Tips, Collection & Wishlist
7/30/2017
I have been
really into red lipsticks recently. I think they look great on my skin tone and
make me (and everyone) look good and feel better about ourselves, that's what I
call the power of red lipsticks. Due to this recent obsession I decided to do a
post all about red lipstick sharing with you some tips and also the ones I own
and love and the ones I'd love to own and love.
Red lipsticks
suit every single complexion, however different shades of red work for different
skin tones.
Fair Skin
with Cool Undertones: Blue-based reds and jewel tones.
Fair Skin
with Warm Undertones: Red-oranges.
Medium Skin
with Cool Undertones: Blue-based reds (matte if you can).
Medium Skin
with Warm Undertones: Red with subtle orange undertones.
Dark Skin
with Cool Undertones: Dark berry reds.
Dark Skin
with Warm Undertones: Deep - wine red (ex: burgundy).
Preparing
your lips is also really important. Remember to exfoliate them at least once a
week and apply lip balm every day to keep your lips soft and hydrated. Also,
using a lip liner before your lipstick will make it look better and last
longer.
Let's now
talk about the ones I own. The majority of red lipsticks I own have a cool
undertone, simply because they work better on my complexion. However I have a
couple that are a bit warmer and that I love during the summer; those ones are
the Clinique Lipstick in Flamingo and the L'Oreal Lip Paint in the shade Red
Fiction. These two have a creamy finish, something that I love during the
summer.
I also have
a few reds that, even though have a cool undertone, are a bit darker than a
true red; these ones are the Rimmel Kate Moss 107 (a really popular one) and
the NYX Liquid Suede Liquid Lipstick in Cherry Skies (of you have a deep skin
tone this lipsticks would look amazing on you).
If I had to
choose just one red lipstick it would probably be the Nars Cruella Lip Pencil.
It is the perfect red for me and has a matte finish, which I love. I also love
that it is really long lasting and extremely easy to apply.
And now
let's talk about the ones I want. The red lipsticks I want are really different
indeed and I want them for different reasons. The Charlotte Tilbury Red Carpet
Red Lipstick looks like the perfect red for my skin tone and I've also heard
really good things about these lipsticks. Then, in order to grow my liquid
lipstick collection, I'd love to add to my collection the MAC Retro Matte
Liquid Lip Colour in Feels So Grand and the Stila Liquid Lipstick in Beso.
I've seen so
many people wear the Rouge D'Armani Lipstick that it's made me want it and,
last but not least, I love the Maybelline Lipsticks so much that I think Divine
Wine can be the perfect drugstore red.
